If your organization sponsors events that take place in multiple time zones, you may want to talk with your Trumba® customer service representative about turning on event time zones.
With event time zones turned on, you can add special time zone fields to event and/or event submission forms. The fields let editors and event submitters specify both an event start time and the time zone in which the event takes place.
Note Assigning a time zone when an event is created does not affect how the event displays in the editing environment or in a published calendar view. Time zone is a calendar—not an event—property. This means that event times always reflect the time zone of the calendar on which the events are displayed, regardless of individual event time zone settings.
The benefit of the event time zone field is that it simplifies event creation. Editors don't have to convert event start times or develop other workarounds related to the calendar's time zone. After an editor sets an event's time zone and start time, conversion happens automatically behind the scenes.
Tip The event time zone field isn't necessarily the right approach for every implementation. For example, if you create separate calendars or sub-calendars for each time zone, you may not need event time zones turned on. To learn more about implementation options and to prepare for your support conversation, see How time zones work.
After event time zones are turned on for your account, you have to take one more step to begin assigning time zones to events: You have to enable the Event time zones setting for one or more calendars and/or event submission forms. Enabling the setting adds a Time zone field to the appropriate form(s).
Note The event Time zone field does not behave like other built-in fields (such as the Event image field) or the custom fields you create. For example, the Time zone field:
Once you enable the Time zone field for a calendar, the field appears in the add/edit event form regardless of the template you select.
Once you enable the Time Zone field for an event submission form, the field shows up with every category sub-calendar.
When you change the time zone, the event start and end times automatically convert to the new time zone.
Change the start and end times if necessary, complete other event information, as appropriate, and then click OK.
Back on the calendar, the event start time reflects the calendar's time zone. In the add/edit event form, the event time zone override you applied remains in place.
Tip Typically, if you're enabling event time zones for an event submission form, you also want to enable event time zones on the destination calendar. If you haven't already enabled event time zones for the calendar, do that now. Enabling event time zones on the destination calendar before you set up the submission form guarantees that event time zones will also automatically be enabled on the Submitted sub-calendar.
If you already added a form, under the Event Submission Form script, click Edit Settings.
