SEATTLE’S KING 5 SELECTS TRUMBA TO POWER ITS ONLINE HOME TEAM SUMMER CALENDAR
Trumba Connect Gives NBC-Affiliate’s Viewers One-Stop Access to Community Events
SEATTLE, WA, June 20, 2007 – Trumba Corporation, a developer of innovative online calendaring solutions, announced today that KING 5, Seattle/Tacoma’s NBC affiliate and number one television station, has selected Trumba Connect to power its online Home Team summer calendar. Trumba Connect helps organizations increase event awareness and attendance and better connects them with their audiences through a comprehensive suite of tools that includes a hosted, interactive Web calendar, email, and reporting services.
KING 5 launched its enhanced Home Team community calendar, which includes event information in the Western Washington area across a variety of categories, on KING5.com (www.king5.com/calendar). Visitors to the King5.com calendar can easily add specific activities to their own personal Google™, MSN® Hotmail®, AOL®, Yahoo!™, Microsoft® Office Outlook® and Apple® iCal® calendars, set event reminders, and receive notifications of event changes. Visitors can also submit their own events to the calendar.
“Viewers rely on us to keep them connected to the community,” said Ray Heacox, president and general manager of KING 5, KONG 6/16, NorthWest Cable News (NWCN), and Weather Plus. “This is one more tool to help our audience stay on top of the many happenings around the Puget Sound area.”
Trumba Connect is easy to set up and can be customized to fit the look and feel of KING5.com’s brand. Trumba allows KING 5 to manage events in a variety of ways and to customize submission forms based upon event type. By powering an online calendar with Trumba Connect, KING 5’s goal is to become a destination for anyone who is looking for something to do in the greater Seattle area.
“Local news stations have always been a primary source for viewers to find out what is happening in their communities. These news stations are increasingly moving their news and information content online and making their Web sites more dynamic and interactive to attract more visitors,” said Jeremy Jaech, CEO of Trumba. “Trumba Connect is a perfect tool for helping KING 5 stay connected to the Puget Sound community and become a key source for local event information.”
KING 5 is launching a marketing campaign to promote the expanded calendar and encourage community groups to submit their events.
