Bring your curiosity and prepare to be amazed by nature’s finest masterpiece! Gabe Barnes and Kate Foreman will be leading the walking tour. Gabe is the Lead Gardener and started working in the Wetland in 2002, bringing over two decades of expertise. Kate has been with the Wetland for a couple of years and was just recently hired full time. They both look forward to showing people around and talking about ongoing projects! About The Wetlands: The University of Washington Bothell campus is home to one of Washington State's largest and most successful floodplain restoration projects. This project transformed 58 acres of pastureland and lower North Creek into a functioning floodplain ecosystem, using key ecological principles in its design and management. Seven years after planting, the wetland met all its 10-year goals, becoming a thriving habitat for salmon and other species and providing natural stormwater filtration. This wetland is a regional success, serving as a living laboratory for ecological study and a refuge for biodiversity in an urban area. Registration on The Whole U site is required to attend. Thank you to AT&T for sponsoring The Whole U and making events like this possible |
