Description | Community engaged environmental and climate justice work at the University of Washington is deep and broad and it requires significant capacity, time and resources to do this intentional and strategic work well. In acknowledging the University has many faculty in the space, and in response to communities asking for more organized or coordinated collective to skill share and build long lasting collaborations together, the Center for Environmental Health Equity and EarthLab are scoping a new Environmental Justice Faculty Network. The goals of this Network are to share resources and support, coordinate community engagement, and ultimately seed more interdisciplinary collaborations with frontline communities. Any UW faculty member from the Seattle, Bothell, or Tacoma campuses who is currently engaged in community-engaged environmental justice work and would like to contribute to this initial scoping is encouraged to join this first conversation. The goal of this first meeting is to identify members for a planning committee and gather general information about the idea. Refreshments will be served. To RSVP, please email earthlab@uw.edu. |
